Music
At Rose Bay Secondary College we believe that all students should have the opportunity to develop their musical abilities and potential. As an artform, music pervades society and occupies a significant place in world cultures and in the oral and recorded history of all civilisations. It uses a unique symbol system that uses sound to imply meaning and convey information, and has the capacity to cross cultural and societal boundaries. Music plays important roles in the social, cultural, aesthetic and spiritual lives of people. At Rose Bay Secondary College, music is a medium of personal expression. Our students have many opportunities to share their ideas, feelings and experiences with their peers and to the wider Rose Bay community.

For their Music for Film Composition Task, Year 10 Music students were required to compose and record an original composition that accompanies a scene of their choice. Students were assessed on their use of the Concepts of Music and film scoring techniques, how well their composition enhances their chosen scene and the audio quality of their composition. We hope you enjoy a few examples of their hard work below!
The CAPA Music Ensemble give Year 12 their best wishes!
Members of the CAPA Music Ensemble perform Good Riddance by Green Day for the Year 12 Graduation Assembly. Due to Covid restrictions, the ensemble could not perform live. Instead, they worked diligently to record their own parts individually. We hope you enjoy their combined efforts! A special thank you and acknowledgement goes to Lili Lonchampt (vocals), Lara Goodman (violin) and Xavier Wilson (guitar) for all of their hard work!
Music Remote Learning Gallery
During their remote learning experience, the Music students at RBSC were not able to perform their 2020 Term One Performances at school. Rather than postponing or cancelling the task, the Music teachers at RBSC saw this as an opportunity to teach their students future focused skills that relate to performance and the music industry. The successful musicians of today’s music industry understand the importance of growing their fan base by sharing their works on numerous multimedia platforms. In order to do this, musicians must first know how to optimally record their own performances/compositions. Music students at RBSC were shown how to record their performance pieces using the technology that they had available in their very own home. Here is a gallery that highlights what some students were able to produce. Enjoy!
