Drama
Drama enables young people to develop knowledge, understanding and skills individually and collaboratively to make, perform and appreciate dramatic and theatrical works. Students take on roles as a means of exploring both familiar and unfamiliar aspects of their world while exploring the ways people react and respond to different situations, issues and ideas. Students will develop a greater level of self-confidence, self-esteem and drive as a result of the experiential and collaborative nature of Drama. Drama is offered as an elective subject for Years 9-12. Extra-curricular opportunities are available each year for students from years 7-12. Drama students have the opportunity to experience the following:
Excursions to professional productions
Workshops with professional performers, director’s and production crew
Performance evenings (MADD Night and Drama nights)
Performances for their peers and Showcase events
Training and experience in technical and backstage production
Students with any level of experience or no experience at all are welcome to choose Drama as an elective or as an extracurricular activity. However, students need to be aware that Drama assessments are based on both practical performances and theoretical tasks.
